Wärtsilä expands its operations in Gdańsk

The new centre will support Wärtsilä’s global operations and is expected to create around 100 new expert-level positions by the end of 2026, offering attractive career opportunities for finance and data specialists in the region.

Wärtsilä has been operating in Gdańsk for 30 years and currently employs around 300 local staff within its marine business. The establishment of the Business Services Centre represents a natural next stage in the company’s development in Poland.

“The establishment of a new centre in Gdańsk is an important step in enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of our Global Business Services. Thanks to a strong base of qualified finance professionals in the region, we plan to grow the Gdańsk team to around 100 employees who will support our businesses worldwide by the end of 2026,” says Antti Valtokari, Vice President of Wärtsilä GBS and Operating Model.

The Gdańsk Business Services Centre will focus on financial operations and master data management, supporting Wärtsilä’s global business activities. The team will work with modern corporate platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Basware AP, and ServiceNow, playing a key role in developing efficient, future-oriented processes.

“Our team will be responsible not only for the day-to-day execution of processes, but also for their continuous improvement and transformation supported by technology. We are looking for experienced specialists in financial operations who combine strong digital competencies with a passion for process improvement — which is a key element of our operating model. In addition, we will strengthen the team with experts in automation and artificial intelligence,” says Wojciech Krygowski, Head of the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Centre in Gdańsk.
