Port Lotniczy Gdańsk Sp. z o.o.: SAS launches new direct route from Gdańsk to Stockholm!
19-10-2015SAS Scandinavian Airlines announce opening another new direct route between Poland and Scandinavia in 2016. On Thursday, 25 March 2016 the direct SAS route between Stockholm and Gdańsk will be launched.
Flights on the Stockholm-Gdańsk route will be available six days a week (daily except for Saturday) according to the following schedule:
Monday - Thursday:
• Departure from Stockholm at 12.30 pm, arrival in GdaÅ„sk at 2.05 pm
• Departure from GdaÅ„sk at 2.30 pm, arrival in Stockholm at 4.05 pm
Friday:
• Departure from Stockholm at 11.30 am, arrival in GdaÅ„sk at 1.05 pm

Sunday:

During the peak summer season, a temporary limitation of the number of flights on this route is planned - to two per week (Fridays and Sundays).
The route will be operated by ATR72 aircraft. SAS aircraft departing from GdaÅ„sk will land at Arlanda airport, which is situated near the capital of Sweden and is connected with the centre of Stockholm by Arlanda Express high speed train (20 minutes). The new operation will perfectly complement existing SAS services to Poland’s biggest city on the Baltic coast from both Copenhagen (up to 4 times daily) and Oslo (5 times weekly).
It is expected that the launch of this route will not only have positive influence on tourist traffic, but will also significantly contribute to strengthening of the economic ties which already exist in both regions in such sectors as the automotive industry, IT and banking. Furthermore, the new route will open up new connection opportunities from regional Swedish airports as well as Finland where for example there is demand from the shipbuilding industry. From Stockholm, the journey may be continued with SAS airlines to over a dozen cities in Sweden, Scandinavia and selected European cities.
The new GdaÅ„sk – Stockholm route is yet another important line on the SAS route network – currently, SAS in Poland offers direct routes to Copenhagen from GdaÅ„sk, PoznaÅ„, WrocÅ‚aw and Warsaw (and from March 2016 on also from Kraków) as well as from GdaÅ„sk to Oslo (Gardermoen airport). Apart from the new routes between Poland and Scandinavia: Stockholm – GdaÅ„sk and Copenhagen – Kraków, SAS has also announced the launch of six other new European routes in the summer schedule for 2016:
• From Copenhagen to Vienna, Reykjavik and Faro,
• From Aarhus to Majorka,
• From Stockholm to the Greek island of Mykonos,
• From Stavanger to Paris.
With the new direct routes from Scandinavia to the US (from Stockholm to Los Angeles, from Oslo and Copenhagen to Miami and from Copenhagen to Boston), SAS is opening a total of 12 new routes from Scandinavian airports in 2016. The new routes and additional departures mean that during the summer season SAS will be providing 579,000 extra seats compared with last year.
Ticket reservation is available on www.flysas.pl and at all travel agents holding IATA licence.
