The history of crayfish parties dates back to the 16th century, when they gained popularity among the royals. In the 17th century, the Swedes began eating crayfish on a larger scale. The tradition has also become popular in Finland.
Now it is a highlight on the Swedish calendar, an annual seafood fest with lots of side dishes (cheese pie, Västerbottenpaj is a must-have!), drinks and joyous songs.
The SPCC Caryfish Celebration is dear to all Nordic nations.
Last Friday, we were delighted to share this exceptional evening with all of our guests from Sweden, Finland, Poland, Denmark, and Norway. Dag Nilsson, Erik Hallgren and Esko Kilpinen, hosts of the evening guided us through the tradition.
Now each participant knows how to
- eat crayfish
- sing “Helan går”
- raise a proper toast!
Warm thanks to our Partners: INVESTIKA and Raben Group.
Without you, this evening could not have happened!
