Ørsted has opened a new office in Gdańsk for the Baltica 2 project

The new space at Olivia Centre will serve as the planning and coordination center for the construction of Poland’s largest offshore wind farm. The Gdańsk office will facilitate cooperation with regional partners and access to key infrastructure for the construction of Baltica 2.

In the coming years, Pomerania will become a hub of intensive activities related to the implementation of the Baltica 2 project, a 1.5 GW investment jointly developed by Ørsted and PGE, which will ultimately supply clean energy to around 2.5 million households in Poland. Ørsted’s project team in Gdańsk will support the planning and coordination of key stages of the offshore construction of Baltica 2, where the company acts as the project leader.

A team of around 50 people will work in close cooperation with local partners, ports, and service facilities, enabling the effective execution of subsequent stages of the offshore investment. The new location will host, among others, construction planning specialists, geographic information system (GIS) experts, crew change coordinators, as well as quality, health, safety, and environment (QHSE) professionals.

The choice of location was primarily determined by transport accessibility and the standard of the facility itself. Olivia Centre is one of the most modern and best-connected office complexes in the Tri-City area. Its location near major transport routes and in close proximity to the airport ensures convenience both for the project team and for guests visiting the office.

“Gdańsk is a strategic location for the implementation of Baltica 2. Here, in direct proximity to key activities, we will plan and coordinate the next steps in building the largest offshore wind farm in Poland. Ørsted has already built more than 30 offshore wind farms off the coasts of three continents, and now we are proud to bring this global experience to the Polish market. Thanks to the new office location, we can not only effectively deliver the project but also build lasting cooperation with key stakeholders and support the development of local expertise in the offshore wind sector,” said Ulrik Lange, Vice President and Managing Director of the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm at Ørsted.

“Ørsted has been present in Poland for 14 years. During this time, the company has become an important operational and competence hub, supporting both local and global energy transition. In our Warsaw office, we currently employ over 800 people across six teams: business development, engineering center, IT, finance, procurement, and HR. We are proud that our employees represent as many as 31 nationalities, with women making up 46 percent of the workforce. Thanks to strong competencies, diversity, and a shared mission, together we are creating a future based on green energy,” said Agata Staniewska-Bolesta, Managing Director of Ørsted Offshore Poland.

Baltica 2 is already having a tangible impact on the development of Pomerania – stimulating the local supply chain, creating new jobs, and engaging communities in the energy transition. With 107 turbines and a total capacity of 1.5 GW, the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm will significantly contribute to Poland’s energy transition as early as 2027.
