Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has received a 228-MW order from US power company PacifiCorp, a unit of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, for a project in Wyoming.
The US firm has ordered turbines of the V136-4.2 MW model in a 4.3-MW power optimised mode for the 250-MW Ekola Flats project. Vestas expects to start delivering the machines in the second quarter of 2020 and complete their installation and commissioning in the third quarter of the same year.
The deal also includes a 12-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.
The Ekola Flats wind project is part of PacifiCorp’s Vision 2020 plan to invest USD 3.1 billion (EUR 2.76bn) in repowering existing wind projects and add 1,150 MW of new capacity by end-2020, while also building a 140-mile (225.3-km) transmission line in Wyoming. As part of that initiative, Vestas previously took part in the repowering of the Marengo and Marengo II wind projects in Washington and the TB Flats I and II projects in Wyoming.
At the same time on the Polish market, Vestas has recently won a tender to deliver and install windmills for the Jasna project in the Pomeranian region. Under the contact, Vestas will deliver to the company Windfarm Polska III a technology and windmils generating 132 MW.
