Sweden - The number of permanently employed women is increasing 5-07-2018
In May 2018, there were 5 101 000 employed persons aged 15–74, not seasonally adjusted. This was an increase of 118 000 persons compared with May 2017. Among women the number of permanent employees was 1 892 000, an increase of 82 000. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 35 000 to 352 000, which corresponds to a decrease of the unemployment rate by 0.7 percentage points to 6.5 percent. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase in the employment rate and a decrease in the unemployment rate, which was 6.2 percent.
The number of employed women increased by 78 000 to 2 445 000 and the number of men increased by 40 000 to 2 656 000. The employment rate increased by 1.1 percentage points to 68.5 percent. Among men, the employment rate was 70.1 and among women, it was 66.7 percent, an increase of 1.6 percentage points. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows a continued increase in the number of employed persons and in the employment rate compared with recent months. In May 2018, there were 5 103 000 employed persons, which corresponds to an employment rate of 68.5 percent.
