Three Nordic capital cities among world’s best cities for families. Copenhagen at the top. 4-12-2017

The world’s best cities to live in as a family is ranked in the new survey ‘Family Index 2017’. Amongst thousands of cities around the world, Copenhagen receives the highest score in the new ‘Family Index 2017’ conducted by the German-based real estate company Homeday.

Copenhagen is on the top of this list due to factors such as safety, happiness and great activities for children.
Traditionally,  couples tend to move to the suburbs when they are ready to start a family. However, this pattern is changing in Copenhagen with 19,000 more families living in the city in 2016 compared to 2000.

The survey is based on 16 categories such as city infrastructure, healthcare quality and activities for children. And Copenhagen receives top scores in the following categories:
•    Safety
•    Maternity laws (In Denmark you have one year paid maternity leave)
•    Healthcare quality (Danish citizens have free healthcare)
•    Happiness levels in the city (Denmark has been ranked the world happiest country several times)
•    Activities for children

Copenhagen parents vouch for the city
Besides rating the cities based on the 16 categories, Homeday asked hundreds of parents and over 30,000 parenting experts how good their city is for raising a family.
Of all the cities in the survey, Copenhagen receives the highest scores when it comes to parent’s perception of living in the city. And Copenhagen takes a second place when it comes to the expert’s perception.
