The number of employees in Sweden continues to increase 4-10-2017

In August 2017, there were 5 109 000 employed persons aged 15–74, not seasonally adjusted. This was an increase of 148 000 persons compared with August 2016. There were 326 000 unemployed persons and the unemployment rate was 6.0 percent, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points.

The number of hours worked averaged 133.4 million per week. According to calendar adjusted figures this was an increase of 2.9 percent. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase in the number of employed persons and small changes in the unemployment rate, which was 6.7 percent.

The unemployment rate amounted to 6.0 percent, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points compared with August 2016. The number of unemployed men amounted to 177 000 and the number of unemployed women amounted to 149 000. The unemployment rate among men was 6.2 percent and among women it was 5.8 percent, a decrease of 0.9 percentage points.
