Helsinki one of world’s most liveable cities 18-08-2017

Finland’s capital has been ranked ninth in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual survey of living conditions globally.

The Global Liveability Ranking assessed 140 cities across the categories of stability, healthcare, education and infrastructure, as well as culture and environment.

Helsinki’s ninth position is unchanged from last year.

The Australian city of Melbourne took top spot, followed by Vienna, Austria and the Canadian duo of Vancouver and Toronto.

The Syrian capital of Damascus was once again ranked at the other end of the scale.
