Nordics on top of the 2017 Social Progress Index 27-06-2017

The annual Social Progress Index ranked Denmark first out of 128 countries, leading in shelter and personal rights.

The Social Progress Index is an aggregate index of social and environmental indicators that capture three dimensions of social progress: Basic Human Needs, Foundations of Wellbeing, and Opportunity. The 2017 Social Progress Index includes data from 128 countries on 50 indicators.

Denmark is ranked first in shelter and personal rights but also performed well on factors such as personal safety, access to information and communications, and personal freedom and choice according to the report.

Denmark’s Nordic neighbours also fare well on the index. Finland takes second place, while Norway and Iceland share third. Sweden is eighth of the 128 countries included in the study.
