The Danish capital once again ranks number nine in the global study of living conditions for expats, Quality of Living by Mercer, and remain a highly attractive destination for expanding business operations and sending expatriates on assignment.
 

Copenhagen ranks fourth in city infrastructure, which plays an important role when multinationals decide where to establish and expatriate workers.

“Cities that rank high in the city infrastructure list provide a combination of top-notch local and international airport facilities, varied and extended coverage through their local transportation networks, and innovative solutions such as smart technology and alternative energy,” said Slagin Parakatil, Principal at Mercer and responsible for its quality of living research.
 

The Best Countries rankings by US News recently ranked Denmark the second-best country in the world for women and for raising children, third for quality of life, and the fourth best country to headquarter a corporation.

The Mercer Quality of Living 2017 city rankings evaluated local living conditions in 450 cities worldwide. Living conditions were analysed according to 39 factors, grouped in 10 categories:

·      Political and social environment (political stability, crime, law enforcement)

·      Economic environment (currency exchange regulations, banking services)

·      Socio-cultural environment (media availability and censorship, limitations on personal freedom)

·      Medical and health considerations (medical supplies and services, infectious diseases, sewage, waste disposal, air pollution).

·      Schools and education (standards and availability of international schools).

·      Public services and transportation (electricity, water, public transportation, traffic congestion).

·      Recreation (restaurants, theatres, cinemas, sports and leisure).

·      Consumer goods (availability of food/daily consumption items, cars).

·      Housing (rental housing, household appliances, furniture, maintenance services).

·      Natural environment (climate, record of natural disasters).
