Huawei opens new R&D centre in Finland 22-09-2016

Chinese mobile giant Huawei has opened a research and development facility in Tampere, Finland.

The focus of the new Huawei centre, located within the premises of Tampere University of Technology, is on camera, audio and imaging technologies for consumer electronics.

For Huawei, one of the main reasons behind the investment decision was the presence of educated professional workforce from suitable research areas.

The newly opened unit is a part of Huawei’s wider R&D hub for mobile device technology in Finland. In all, the R&D units of the Chinese multinational in Finland employ over 240 people.

Currently, the unit has 40 employees with plans for further recruitment. The R&D facility in Tampere was founded in cooperation with Invest in Finland, Tampere University of Technology and City of Tampere.
