Finland ranked best for expat families 2-09-2016

The Family Life Index has named Finland as the best country for expat families out of 45 different nations around the world.

The top ranking was collated from a quartet of subcategories. Three of these, including the availability and cost of childcare and education in Finland, along with its quality of education, were deemed the world’s best. In fact, 70 per cent of expat parents believe the quality of education in Finland is excellent. This far exceeds the global average of 21 per cent. Meanwhile, family wellbeing in Finland was ranked fourth worldwide.

The index formed part of the annual Expat Insider survey, which ranked a total of 67 countries across such additional indices as quality of life, ease of settling in, working abroad and personal finance.

The survey drew on the opinions of more than 14 000 respondents representing 174 nationalities and 191 countries. Finland’s overall position this year rose 19 places to 32nd.
