Statistics Norway: Turnover index for transport, tourism and ICT, Q2 2016, preliminary figures 25-08-2016

Growth for land transport
Almost all divisions in the section ‘Land transport and transport via pipelines’ saw an increase in turnover in the second quarter of 2016 compared with the second quarter of 2015.
The exception was the group ‘Freight rail transport’, where the turnover decreased by 15.7 per cent. ‘Freight transport by road and removal services’, which dominates the figures, had an increase in turnover of 2.0 per cent in the second quarter of 2016 compared with the same quarter last year.

Turnover decrease for water transport
The division ‘Water transport’ saw an 11.2 per cent decrease in turnover in the second quarter of 2016 compared with the second quarter of 2015. The group ‘Sea and coastal passenger water transport’ increased its turnover, while ‘Sea and coastal freight water transport’, which dominates the figures, decreased its turnover.

Slight increase in turnover for air transport
The division ‘Air transport’ consists of the groups ‘Passenger air transport’ and ‘Freight air transport’. The former had a slight increase in turnover by 0.4 per cent, while the latter had a slight decrease in turnover by 0.5 per cent compared with the second quarter last year.

Steady growth for accommodation and food service activities

Preliminary figures show that the divisions ‘Accommodation’ and ‘Food and beverage service activities’ saw an increase in turnover of 6.9 and 7.1 per cent respectively in the second quarter this year compared with the same quarter last year.

Slight decline in turnover for information and communication

Turnover in the section ‘Information and communication’ decreased by 0.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2016 compared with the second quarter of 2015.
