Finland has been again ranked number one in The Reporters Without Borders’ Press Freedom Index 22-04-2016

According to the annual The Reporters Without Borders’ report, Finland has again the best press freedom in the world.

The Press Freedom Index combines 180 countries according to the level of freedom available to journalists. The index is based on different kinds of indicators such as media independence, self-censorship, the rule of law, transparency and abuses.

Finland has been ranked first in the World Press Freedom Index for the past five years. Finland also ranks third in the world for newspaper readers per capita. This year the second place went to the Netherlands while Norway took the third place, Denmark fourth and Sweden eighth. The last countries on the list were Eritrea (180), North Korea (179) and Turkmenistan (178).

The report has been published every year since 2002.
