Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) has been ranked second in the 2015 international BEST public transport survey (Benchmarking in European Service of Public Transport).

Altogether, around 81 per cent of residents are satisfied with public transport.

The HSL area ranked above average in many aspects including public transport loyalty, value for money, public transport services outside the city centre and availability of seats.

Satisfaction with disruption information, staff’s ability to provide information and cleanliness of vehicles has also improved significantly in recent years.

Aside from Helsinki, BEST looked at the quality of public transport services in Bergen, Geneva, Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.

Geneva took the first place in the survey, after satisfaction with its public transport enjoyed a boost of 11 percentage points from last year. This increase was due to significant fare cuts.
