Stockholm Economy: A strong end to the year for Stockholm 29-03-2016

 Stockholm’s economic growth continued during the fourth quarter of 2015. Total wages show increasing growth, unemployment is falling and the number of new companies in both the county and city rose. This is what The Stockholm Economy Report for Q4 2015 shows.

- It is a strong end to the year for the Stockholm region. Business is growing, the commercial accommodations increasing and more and more start-ups are creating jobs, which is encouraging and important for the city´s continued growth, says Olle Zetterberg, CEO of Stockholm Business Region.

During the last quarter 6 591 new companies were registered in Stockholm County, whereof the City of Stockholm accounted for 3 996. This represents a 10 % increase for the county and 15 % increase for the city compared to the fourth quarter 2014.

The number of people employed has increased during the last quarter.

The number of listed positions increased and the number of people given notice decreased. The unemployment rate continued to decrease both in Stockholm County and the City of Stockholm compared with the same quarter 2014.

In 2015 the number of residents has increased by 33 400 in Stockholm County, of which the City of Stockholm accounted for 11 500.
