Finland remains world’s least fragile country 11-07-2016

Finland is again found at the very bottom place in the Fragile State Index, based on a conflict assessment framework by The Fund for Peace (FFP).

The framework was developed by FFP nearly 25 years ago in order to assess the vulnerability of states to collapse. The condition of a state is measured by using 12 conflict risk indicators, such as demographic pressures, state legitimacy, human flight and brain drain and security apparatus.

The methodology utilises both qualitative and quantitative indicators and relies on public source data.

As the comparison comprises 178 states, Finland’s ranking is 178th. This is the seventh time in a row Finland is deemed the least fragile state in the world.

The top three countries on the list are South Sudan, Somalia and Central African Republic. The least fragile states after Finland are Norway, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden.
