Norway and Finland best for women on boards 23-01-2015

Norway and Finland  have the highest proportions of women in corporate boardrooms according to a study of 20 major economies by Catalyst Inc., a New York based organisation, which advocates for more women in the workplace.

With a share of female board members at 29.9 per cent, Finland is second to Norway with 35.5% and narrowly ahead of France with 29.7%.
All three countries have government-mandated quotas for women on corporate boards.

The US and Canada have about 20 per cent while Portugal, India, and Ireland each have 10 per cent or less.
Women hold only three per cent of seats on the boards of directors at Japan’s largest companies, the study shows.
