Copenhagen Airport still among the world’s best at route development 8-10-2014

At the 20th World Routes conference in Chicago, Copenhagen Airport was honoured as one of the three best airports in the world at route development in the category of airports with 20-50 million passengers per year.
Five major international airports were shortlisted for the award as the world's best at route development. Dublin won the award ahead of Copenhagen and Munich followed by Düsseldorf and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

„Every single air route generates growth, jobs and investment. For this reason, competition among airports and countries to attract and retain new routes has become very intense. We therefore see it as an amazing pat on the back for Denmark that we remain among the world's best at route development," said Ole Wieth Christensen, Director of Airline Sales & Route Development for Copenhagen Airport.

The award was presented at one of the world's leading aviation conferences, World Routes, which was held in Chicago. The World Routes conference is an annual event at which some 3,000 delegates from airlines, airports and tourism organisations worldwide meet to discuss the development of new air routes.

Copenhagen Airport won the prestigious award last year, when the World Routes conference was held in Las Vegas, and CPH since then won the European championship in route development as well.

„Being on the shortlist as one of the world's best at route development shows that the airlines see us as a player that gives them a marketing package of an overall high class, with proper route data, analysis and proposals for the development of new and existing routes. We had naturally hoped to win the title of 'world champions at route development,' but we were competing against other strong airports which also do a good job giving airlines the best possible material to work with," Ole Wieth Christensen, Director of Airline Sales & Route Development for Copenhagen Airport.
