Bonnier buys stake in Marginesy 16-01-2014

Bonnier Books New Markets has made its first acquisition in Polish publishing house Marginesy.
Bonnier described the deal as both an "acquisition" and a "joint venture", but declined to give more precise details of its stake.
Located in Warsaw, Marginesy was founded in 2008 by Hanna Mirska-Grudzińska. Both she and fellow founder Krzysztof Grudziński will stay at the company as shareholders as well as part of the management board.
Krzysztof GrudziĹ„ski, president of Marginesy, said: “We are convinced that joining the strengths and capabilities of old owners and new shareholders will allow us to continue the dynamic development of Marginesy publishing house.
“At the same time, we believe that the mix of local experience with international publishing know-how will open new possibilities of growth to Marginesy.”
Bonnier Books New Markets, part of Bonnier AB, which owns Hot Key Books and Templar Publishing among others in the UK, was founded last year to develop new book business areas.
Joachim Kaufmann, v.p. of Bonnier Books New Markets, said: ”With Marginesy we ally not with the biggest, but definitely with one of the fastest growing and most successful Polish publishers.

“Together with Krzysztof and Hanna we intend to build one of the important publishing groups in Poland within the coming years.”
