With room and board included 10-02-2014

What has been common in the oil and gas industries for decades is coming to the offshore wind sector. The DanTysk offshore wind farm being constructed off the German island of Sylt in the North Sea will include an offshore accommodation platform. This is a first in the world.
The platform, equipped with quiet rooms with a shower, Internet and TV, will make everyday life more comfortable for the 30-35 employees of the DanTysk maintenance team. It is a year-round facility, to be serviced out of Esbjerg, Denmark. It will replace a slow, and possibly rough, sea transport of personnel. The entire DanTysk offshore wind farm with 80 wind turbines and the accommodation platform is scheduled to be up and running in 2014. It is a project of Swedish energy company Vattenfall and German Stadtwerke München. The wind farm will generate climate-neutral electricity for some 400,000 households.
