Helsinki port sees record passenger numbers 27-05-2014

The number of ship passengers passing through the Port of Helsinki broke records in April.
Some 850,000 people sailed into Finland’s busiest passenger last month, indicating a growth of nine per cent from April last year.
The majority of the passengers, some 74 per cent, travelled on the Helsinki-Tallinn routes, which experienced a growth of ten per cent compared to the previous year.

Routes between Helsinki and Stockholm accounted for 22 per cent of the passengers. Passenger numbers on these routes grew by as much as 16 per cent compared to April last year.

The total number of passengers in January-April was almost three million, an increase of two per cent from the previous year.
