In its January’s edition, “Gazeta Bankowa” publishes the results of a competition for the Bank Manager of the Year 2010. The winner of the 13th edition was WÅ‚odzimierz KiciÅ„ski, president of Nordea Bank Polska.

It is the thirteenth time that “Gazeta Bankowa” has organised a competition for the best manager in the financial sector. Nominated for the title were the following CEOs:

Wojciech Sobieraj, Alior Bank.

When nominating the candidates, the editorial board of “Gazeta Bankowa” particularly focused on the managers who efficiently ran the institution in their charge but also those who correctly predicted the directions of market development and actively worked towards the development of the banking sector in Poland.

“The title of ‘The Bank Manager of the Year 2010’ is awarded by representatives of the Polish banking society. It is even more rewarding for me as we are operating on a very competitive market and based on different business models. However, I treat this prestigious distinction first of all as a conformation that Nordea Bank is perceived as a dynamically-growing and well-managed bank with reliable and professional staff,” says WÅ‚odzimierz KiciÅ„ski.

Włodzimierz Kiciński, president of Nordea Bank Polska SA, used to work as the Head of the Foreign Department of the National Bank of Poland. He acted as an advisor to Central Europe Trust sp. z o.o. and was employed by Bayerische Hypotheken und Wechsel Bank AG. He held the position of vice-president of Hypo-Bank Polska and Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej.
He has been the president and CEO of Nordea Bank Polska since 2002. In 2002 and 2003, he successfully completed the merger with LG Petro Bank, followed by a restructuring of the organization and a conversion of the bank’s data processing systems. During the last four years he has led a process of dynamic expansion of the bank’ retail network. At present, Nordea Bank Polska SA has 200 branch offices all over Poland.
