PKO Bank Polski: The opening of the Nordea Operational Centre in Łódź

8-11-2010

The 4th of November marks the official opening of the operations of Nordea Operational Centre. The establishment of the Operational Centre is an initiative undertaken by Nordea Group, aimed at the provision of services to the Scandinavian branches of the bank.

Poland is one of the most dynamically growing markets on which Nordea is present. The decision to open the new Operational Centre was made by Nordea Group in view of the large potential of Polish employees in the financial sector, their knowledge, experience, competitive salaries and the conducive economic environment.
Nordea’s Operational Centre is a newly established business unit within Nordea Group. Its main objective is to centralize back-office tasks (excluding IT operations) and to deliver settlement services internally to the Group’s operational units. Over the next 2-4 years, the Centre will employee a minimum of 300 employees. The relocation of the service centre to Łódź is aimed at ensuring a proper quality and efficiency of service with a simultaneous optimization of costs.

- We are very much pleased with the high quality pf services offered by our Polish collaborators. The creation of the Operational Centre will strengthen Nordea’s presence on the Polish market and it will constitute support in the process of building the image of a strong European bank - said Jens Nielsen, Head of Sourcing, First Vice President in Nordea Group.

The Operational Centre project in Poland is one of the Group’s initiatives aimed at taking advantage of both internal and external potential. The Centre will be located in Łódź at Aleja Marszałka Edwarda Śmigłego-Rydza 20.

- Work on the creation of the Centre was started in 2008. The commencement of the operations is scheduled for this year. Owing to the centralization of certain tasks that are currently done manually, we will be able to guarantee a high quality and efficiency of our services, leading also to a costs reduction - said Jens Nielsen.
