Stena Recycling invests over 50 million PLN in the recycling of electronics and plastic.

The Swedish recycling leader - Stena Recycling - invests over PLN 50 million in the processing and recovery of raw materials from electronic devices and plastic. This is the cost of building and modernizing two modern installations that are being built at the Electronics Recycling Center in Wschowa between PoznaÅ„ and Zielona Góra. The plastic film processed in the plant will be used to create granules, and valuable metals and plastics are already recovered from RTV and household appliances. In the light of the Ecodesign Directive, these are products whose proper recycling will be of particular importance.

The modernized electronics processing plant has just been commissioned, and the processing of packaging film is expected to start this year. After completion of the investment, the plant in Wschowa will be the most modern in Poland and next in this respect, after the Stena Nordic Recycling Center in Halmstad, in Europe.

The new production lines in Wschowa are one of Stena Recycling's largest investments in recent years. The processing of electrical and electronic equipment and packaging film are two very dynamically developing areas that require specific solutions for effective waste management. The combination of various separation methods, unique on a global scale, will allow to obtain the highest purity of the obtained fractions, which is of key importance in the recycling of materials.

This year, Stena Recycling is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Poland. During this time, we have changed from a scrap processing company consisting of several people, into a leader in comprehensive solutions in the field of industrial waste management and environmental services. We transfer our experience from Scandinavian and Italian plants to Wschowa. Thanks to close cooperation, we have selected the best solutions tailored to our needs. In Wschowa, we use a combination of proven technologies and new solutions, it is worth emphasizing that there are not many similar investments in Europe - says Lars Ibsen, president of Stena Recycling Polska.

One of the production lines under construction in Wschowa will allow for safe and effective processing of up to 15,000 tons of plastic foil per year. LDPE film is now widely used for the production of various packaging materials. Its consumption is growing, among others, through the development of e-commerce business. The implemented technology makes it possible to recover this raw material and restore it in a form that allows it to be reused for the production of new products. The second investment of Stena Recycling in Wschowa is a specialized installation for the recovery of valuable raw materials from small household appliances and electronics. They contain, inter alia, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including precious metals such as gold, silver and palladium. After appropriate recovery, they can be used to produce new equipment. This action helps to protect the environment, as new products are created using recovered metals, instead of the new extracted natural resources, the deposits of which will one day run out. The cost of these investments is over PLN 50 million.
