23-02-2021Christian Levin becomes Scania's new president and CEO
Scania's Board of Directors has appointed Christian Levin as new CEO and President of Scania from May 1, 2021.
Christian Levin is currently a member of the TRATON SE Board of Directors and Chief Operating Officer of the TRATON GROUP and has over 20 years of experience working for Scania. In addition to his new position at Scania, Levin will remain on the TRATON SE board of directors.
Levin will replace Henrik Henriksson, who is leaving Scania after 23 years, including more than 5 as CEO, to join H2 Green Steel, a new venture to start producing fossil-free steel by 2024. Henriksson will remain at Scania until time for Levin to become president and CEO.
“We regret that Henrik Henriksson is leaving Scania and the TRATON family, but we are also proud that he will take on such a grand new challenge, perfectly matching his unique leadership expertise in sustainability. Our industry will also benefit greatly from fossil-free steel, and TRATON will be following with interest. Fortunately, we couldn't have asked for a better successor than Christian Levin. His experience and knowledge of both the industry and Scania are extensive and guarantee Scania's continued commitment to sustainability and will accelerate this transformation, ' says Matthias Gründler, TRATON SE CEO and Scania Chairman.
Christian Levin joined TRATON SE in 2019. He started his career at Scania in 1994 as an intern and has held several management positions since then. Levin has extensive international work experience and holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Before joining TRATON, he was Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Scania.
“It is a great honor for me to be the CEO of Scania, a company that has had such a huge impact on my life and career. Together with my passionate team, I will work hard to continue leading the shift towards a sustainable transport system. As a strong brand within the TRATON GROUP, we will continue the successful work of Henrik and create a world of mobility that is better for business, society and the environment, says Christian Levin, TRATON GROUP COO and future Scania President and CEO.
- It was a very difficult decision for me to leave Scania, the company where I have spent my entire career and which I see as a family. It has been a fantastic journey and I am proud of what we have achieved. I am also convinced that Scania is well prepared for the future and has a clear goal of leading the shift towards sustainable transport, says Henrik Henriksson, Scania President and CEO.
