Ericsson has launched innovative Zero Site prototype. The first base station integrated with a street lamp has been installed in Piła.

Ericsson has installed the innovative Zero Site prototype in Piła. The solution has been developed by Ericsson. Philips Lighting provided energy-efficient DigiStreet Mini LED luminaire with Philips City Touch system which enables remote management of the lightening infrastructure. Service provider of Plus network brand enabled integration of Zero Site base station with its mobile network. It is the first such implementation in Poland.

The station that has been installed in Piła combines advanced radio devices with broadband mobile Internet LED lighting technology which enables energy saving even up to 50 per cent compares to conventional solutions. Thanks to LED lamps with embedded 4G transmitters, inhabitants will receive high-quality energy-efficient lighting of the public area and better operation of the telecom network, in particular in densely populated urban areas.

The applied solution addresses main issues faced by cities and mobile network operators all over the world:
- cities pay high costs related to use of electric power necessary to lighten streets
- operators encounter numerous obstacles when they want to gain new locations
- mobile network customers expect high quality services in every place of a city

Zero Site is a multifunctional platform, which offers possibilities of development of numerous entities and will accelerate the digital transformation of the cities.

The implemented solution is embedded into the trend of an intelligent and friendly city. It enables sustainable development of a city and has a real impact on improved quality of the service in mobile networks.

Martin Mellor, Head of Ericsson in Poland said: “In Ericsson we are sure that the Zero Site solution will be popular not only as a platform for mobile network densification, but also as catalyst of sustainable urban development. Zero Site is an architectural element, which introduces new quality in the environmental aesthetics.”
