The next generation Scania S500 received highest marks in this year's "Master Truck of the Year" contest, conducted by representatives of leading Polish press editors dealing with transport industry issues. The results of the competition were announced at the 13th Master Truck Rally.

The jury evaluated the technical and ecological solutions that affect efficient performance in transport tasks and comfort of the driver in the vehicles participating in the poll. An important criterion was also the adaptation of the vehicle to the realities of the Polish market. Assessed were vehicles with a GVW of 7.5 tonnes or more, allowed to drive on public roads, currently in commercial offer of the manufacturers.

About the vehicle

The Scania S500 has a new version of the 500 hp 13-liter Euro 6 engine with improved controls and a thoroughly upgraded gearbox. The engine is equipped with the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) exhaust gas recirculation system. Improving the engine fuel economy was also possible thanks to improvements in the cooling system. This is part of the long-term development goals of Scania, which aims to become the leader in sustainable transport, helping to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. All modernizations allowed a reduction of fuel consumption in the vehicle of at least 5%.

New cabin

It is worth noting that the vehicle features the highest flat floor sleeper cab model, designed for the most demanding users.

- The new S cab with a flat floor and a spacious interior will be the first choice for customers who appreciate comfort and rest. The driver has even more room inside than before - added Paweł Paluch.

The S cab not only guarantees optimal use of interior space. Its aerodynamic shape allows for more fuel savings and greater safety. These foundations are evident in the overall concept of design and in the details of the equipment of the new cab. The cabin concept was developed in collaboration with Porsche Engineering engineers.

Scania’s next generation

2017 is the year for the next generation of Scania vehicles. They were met with great recognition from customers and industry, which is confirmed by numerous awards. Scania's new generation vehicles have been honored with such prestigious titles as "Truck of the Year 2017" for the best truck of the year, as well as "Green Truck 2017" awarded for the lowest CO2 emissions achieved in independent comparative tests. The new range of Scania vehicles has also been very well received in Poland. It was awarded the "Truck of the Year 2017 in Poland" award in the poll of readers of "Polski Traker". Moreover, as a result of press tests conducted in early May this year by "Zawsze na czele", Scania's next-generation trucks registered the lowest fuel consumption, at just 20.8 l / 100 km.
