The company Veolia Energy Poznań with Foundry Volkswagen Poznań have launched a joint project of industrial heat recovery and supply the urban network. Atlas Copco was their partner, who delivered air compressed installation.

Energy, in a form of heat from industrial processes, is used to supply more than 30 buildings in the district Wilda, including HCP hospital in Poznań.
Thanks to our oil free screw compressors, which are necessary in the foundry of Volkswagen Poznań, this very energy-intensive process (up to 80% of the electricity consumed by the compressor goes into heat energy) is transformed to power the municipal heating system.

In 2016 the construction process of compressors energy recovery system was finished. It is one of the largest systems of this type currently operated in Poland. Energy in the form of heat in the summer season is transferred to municipal heating network and in winter season it supports the heating and technological systems in the Plant. Energy savings generated by this system for Volkswagen are estimated as ca. 1,4 MW (max. 1,8 MW).
