DSV Group Poland: DSV strengthens its position in Africa

3-02-2017

Nine new countries have joined DSV Group last year as a result of UTi Worldwide acquisition. The East African Malawi branch, which has been operating for 26 years, is the newest member of the DSV family.

Along with the next country joining DSV global network, the logistics operator gained a total of three new offices in Malawi: in the capital Lilongwe, Blantyre - the commercial center of the country and in Dedza - on the border with Mozambique, and the invaluable experience of the 26-year presence on the market.

DSV Malawi offers a full range of transport and logistics services: air, sea and road transport as well as warehousing and customs brokerage services. Being landlocked, sea freight to and from Malawi is handled via transit ports in Mozambique, Tanzania and South Africa - says Marius Viljoen, DSV's Country Manager in Malawi.

Pharmaceutical, automotive and agriculture companies are the main customers of DSV Malawi. Agriculture products account for more than a third of Malawi's GDP, and the country is one of the world's the five largest tobacco exporters. Malawi is the ninth new country, which last year joined the DSV Group in the wake of Botswana, Cambodia, Israel, Jordan, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Uruguay and Zimbabwe.
