Ericsson: The new service platform at Legia Warszawa stadium.

20-10-2015

Ericsson has provided a complete solution for Legia stadium’s radio network. An innovative service platform has been launched.

The Legia Warszawa Stadium is the first Polish stadium and one of the few in Europe that has been equipped with a service platform based on individual WiFi.

Ericsson's network allows high speed internet access at the Legia Stadium, as well as at other facilities located at Łazienkowska 3: club offices, Legia FunStore, and the stadium restaurant.

The main element of the Ericsson - Legia Warszawa collaboration is a platform that is, thanks to the implementation of WiFi technology, available to everyone at the stadium. The platform enriches attendance by offering a set of value-add services such as buying gadgets available in the FanStore or tickets for the matches. In the nearest future, an application will enable the enjoyment of additional new features such as food ordering with a delivery to a specific chair in the stands.

The Ericsson for Legia project includes plans for radio installation and optimization. Integration with external systems such as Captive Portal has also been planned. Ericsson installed numerous types of equipment, including aggregation switches, WiFi controllers, routers, and the Ericsson Wireless Management system. More than ten kilometers of cabling, mainly fiber, has been planned.

Network connection is enabled by 153 access points. 112 of them were mounted on the lower and upper grandstands of the stadium with special handles. These are AP5114 type access points dedicated to stadiums.

Wi-Fi infrastructure is designed to ensure efficient and uninterrupted Internet connection for thirty-one thousand fans in the stadium. Ericsson's bandwith is commensurate to the web traffic of a medium-sized city.

The agreement between Ericsson and Legia Warszawa is a great example of business and technology collaboration.
