Lantmannen Unibake Poland: to invest 75M EUR in Poland
15-10-2015Lantmannen Unibake - a bakery group, which has been on Polish market since the early 90’s is going to build a new production plant in Poland. The value of the investment is 75M EUR.
Lantmannen Unibake - a bakery group with expertise in fresh and in-store bakery products, owner of brands like Schulstad, Skoga and Schulstad Bakery Solutions is expanding the scale of investment in Poland. The company is going to build a high-tech production plant in Nowa Sól, a city located in the Kostrzyn-SĹ‚ubice Special Economic Zone. The plant will take approximately 29,000 square meters. It will be the company’s third and simultaneously the biggest production plant in Poland.
The value of the investment is 75M EUR. It includes the costs of a production hall along with the necessary infrastructure (such as cold stores, storehouses, sewage treatment plant, buildings with offices and equipment rooms), but also the purchase and installation of essential machines and devices. In this new plant there will be three high-tech production lines, which will produce 200 tons of bakery goods daily. Mainly a variety of in-store bakery goods will be produced, although the company does not exclude the production of other bakery products, such as cooled and frozen dough or pre-made meals (i.e. sandwiches). About 70 per cent of the future’s production will be addressed beyond the Polish borders – to the Central-East European countries’ markets and also to the Scandinavian countries.
- The frozen bakery market in the Central-East Europe is rapidly developing. It is estimated that the demand in Poland for Lantmanenn Unibake products will grow by approximately 20% by the end of 2020. The reason why Lantmannen Unibake is making this investment in Nowa Sol is, observed for a long time, the customers’ demand-led growth for the company’s products – says Jacek Górecki, Managing Director for the Polish and Hungary Cluster in Lantmannen Unibake.
Thanks to the investment, there will be new work places. The new production plant will give employment to 113 persons, which means that the overall company’s employment in Poland will grow by 25 per cent (currently Lantmannen Unibake has over 400 employees in Poland).
The construction of the production plant is scheduled to begin in the October 2015 and it should be finished by the end of 2018. The company is planning to gradually launch the production lines – the first one in the first quarter of 2017, the second one in the third quarter of 2018 and the third and the last one by the end of 2018.
The new plant will have a positive impact on the regional economy and will potentially create new jobs indirectly linked to the investment. It results from the possible growth of purchases from regional service and material suppliers (i.e. raw materials, transportation, security, maintenance, cleaning services or waste management services).
The existing production plants located in Poznań and Nieporęt (near Warsaw) will operate on the same level as previously and there will be no changes in the current production. The new Polish investment will not affect the production or the structure of Lantmannen Unibake capacity in other European countries.
