Volvo Polska Sp. z o.o.: 10 Volvo hybrid buses for the city of Inowrocław.

29-09-2015

On August 30th 10 Volvo hybrid buses were officially transfered to the city of Inowrocław. This is a result of the agreement signed in March of this year between representatives of the Volvo Bus Corporation and the City of Inowrocław.

These vehicles are Volvo 7900 Hybrid low-floor buses with hybrid drive, produced in the Wroclaw factory, and will be used for public transport in Inowrocław.

Under the MPK Inowrocław contract Volvo will also provide post-sales support. For a period of 60 months from the date of delivery, Volvo will perform, at its own expense, any planned inspections, maintenances, and replacements, as well as any necessary repairs, except for the repair and replacement of tires and repairs resulting from accidents.

MaĹ‚gorzata Durda – Director of Sales from Volvo Poland, delivering a symbolic key to the new buses, said:

"I am pleased to provide these innovative hybrid buses to the city, which promote, in a sustainable way, concern for the comfort of passengers no less than for infrastructure, the environment, and the quality of our air. The investment in a modern, low-emission bus fleet prooves this assertion. Inowrocław is a spa city. We know that enviromental issues are crucial here. Our low-emission hybrid bus fits perfectly within the city's policy, thanks to their quiet operation and significantly lower fuel consumption. Hopefully, new environmentally friendly buses will encourage citizens to use public transportation more often".

Serial production of Volvo hybrid buses was launched at the Wroclaw factory in 2010. Volvo 7900 Hybrids use up to 39% less fuel and have less impact on the climate than similar diesel buses. The company has sold more than 2,000 hybrids to public transport operators in more than twenty countries. In Poland, Volvo's hybrid buses service the fleets of PKM Ĺšwierklaniec and MPK Wroclaw.

The production of hybrid city buses was the beginning of Volvo's electromobility strategy. In 2014 the company introduced an electric hybrid Volvo 7900. In June, 2015, the official presentation of the fully electric Volvo bus for an international range of clients and journalists was held in Göteborg.
