Kinnarps fulfils stringent requirements regarding human rights, working conditions, environment and anti-corruption. This is laid out in the ethical third-party audit, a so-called SMETA, which has been carried out in the factory in Kinnarp.

"The result of this thorough review of our organisation shows that Kinnarps has transparent routines which ensure that we keep a good track of our operations and that Kinnarps is a good organisation for all employees. We knew this before, but it naturally feels great that we now also have a certificate to prove it," says Johanna Ljunggren, Corporate Environment Manager at Kinnarps.

SMETA stands for Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit, and is an auditing procedure which is used to check and audit ethical aspects within the supply chain. The audit has been carried out at the request of one of Kinnarps' customers, which with this kind of audit ensures that the supplier conforms to its own code of conduct.

After thorough inspections in the form of tours around the factory, a document review and interviews with employees, Kinnarps has been approved, and thus has fulfilled the stringent requirements that the audit entails.

The audit has checked and stipulated requirements on the following points:

• Human rights
• Working conditions (e.g. freedom of association, conditions of employment, discrimination, health and safety)
• Environment
• Anti-Corruption

"Social and ethical requirements are regularly stipulated by customers, but this type of monitoring is new for Kinnarps. However, we believe that this kind of requirement and monitoring will increase in the future and already we are going to be able to use the results of this audit to fulfil the demands of other customers," says Johanna Ljunggren.
