DSV has launched an intermodal service between Turkey and the UK, the service is a joint venture between two divisions of the DSV – DSV Air & Sea and DSV Road.

This new inter-modal container service is a great supplement to our existing Turkish services by road and short-sea. As it is more economical than the conventional route by road with only slightly longer transit time we are convinced the product will be of interest to many existing and potential customers of DSV.

DSV purchased 45' pallet wide, hi-cube containers for the new service, which will transport by road, sea and rail. The containers have the same loading capacity as a curtain-sided trailer, they are sealed by the shipper after loading and are fitted with enhanced locks for extra security. Intermodal service is slightly longer (10-12 days) but at the same time offers high efficiency and cost stability. Furthermore the new service is more environmentally friendly which corresponds with DSV’s goal to improve energy efficiency and to lower carbon emissions from company’s transport activities.
