Skanska Property Poland: NORDEA HOUSE and Green Corner – modernity in harmony with the old streets of Wola

29-05-2013

On the 28 05 2013 NORDEA HOUSE and Green Corner office complex developed by Skanska Property Poland has officially opened. The scheme comprising two buildings is located at the intersection of Chłodna and Wronia Streets in Warsaw.

Not only is the modern complex environment and city friendly, but also during its design and construction the developer made sure that it would fit in with the surrounding urban landscape.

NORDEA HOUSE and Green Corner office complex consists of two buildings, whose total leasable space is 27,000 sqm. The first tenants moved in already in December 2012. One of the largest contracts was signed with Nordea Group, hence the name NORDEA HOUSE given to one of the buildings. Other tenants include Grant Thornton, Jones Lang LaSalle Group Services, CHI Polska and Ruch S.A.

„We are very proud of the NORDEA HOUSE and Green Corner complex and the way it complements the character of Wola, a district developing extremely dynamically. For a long time we have been constantly making every effort to harmoniously adapt our green buildings to Warsaw architecture. We have been successful with Jana PawĹ‚a II Alley, were we created one of the few consistently developed lines of buildings in Warsaw. Soon it will be highlighted with our flagship project – Atrium 1. We are confident that the same approach will contribute to the success of the office complex we are planning at the DaszyĹ„skiego Roundabout,” said Katarzyna Zawodna, Regional Director at Skanska Property Poland.

Skanska’s goal was not only to provide high quality office space, meeting the most demanding standards of sustainable construction, but also to carry out the investment in such a manner that the office complex would harmonize with the surrounding buildings – it is of the same height as the nearby buildings and the simple, glazed facade creates the impression of lightness. The efforts of Skanska Property Poland in this respect were recognized in the competition “Friendly to Warsaw 2012”, in which the NORDEA HOUSE and Green Corner complex came among the seven buildings in Warsaw nominated for the award. Modern architectural solutions, the quality of materials, creating a coherent line of buildings and facades or adapting to the surrounding area – these were some of the main criteria taken into account in the competition.

Skanska’s office complex is also a great commercial success. Both NORDEA HOUSE and Green Corner had been almost fully leased before their construction finished and very quickly found an investor. At the end of December 2012 the complex was sold to two RREEF real estate special funds.

“The NORDEA HOUSE and Green Corner complex is a project we are really proud of in many respects. We have not only achieved commercial success, which proved that green buildings delivering high quality office space are very popular with investors. We are also glad that by focusing also on the aspects of harmony and coherence we have once again been able to contribute to the process of shaping modern Warsaw and that our efforts were recognized,” said Waldemar Olbryk, President of Skanska Property Poland.
