1st Northern Living Festival

Northern Living Festival  is new and special culture initiative under the patronage of SPCC which idea is to present the most interesting achievements of modern Scandinavian culture. The first edition of the festival will take place in February, 18-19th, in Fabryka Trzciny in Warsaw. The goal of  Northern Living Festival is promotion  of the most interesting and inspiring artists and trends as well as promotion of „Northern Living“ as very harmonious art of living.

The central point of the Festival will be the concerts – we invited the most interesting musicians from the Northern countries. On the first day we will present the masters of Dance Electronics: Luomo (Finland), Lindstrøm (Norway) and Mikkel Metal (Denmark). The second day of the Festival will belong to the Swedish stars of neo-folk – Jose Gonzáles with the band Junip and splendid young singer from the Promise and the Monster.

The organizers also invite for the screenings of Scandinavian movies prepared in cooperation with Gutek Film, Danish Embassy and Swedish company – Imperial Records. Following movies will be presented in Muranów cinema: “Nord” (directed by Rune Denstad Langlo) and “Antichrist” (by Lars von Trier). There will be also screenings in Fabryka Trzciny: “What No One knows” (by Søren Kragh-Jacobsen) and "The Extraordinary Ordinary Life Of José González” (a documentary movie about the Junip leading musician directed by Mikel Cee Karlsson & Fredrik Egerstrand).

During Northern Living Festival there is also something prepared for Scandinavian literature lovers. The publishing house W.A.B. has prepared presentations of four Scandinavian authors: Henning Mankell (and his newest book “The Troubled Man” about the last investigation of Kurt Wallander), Arnaldur Indriðason ( “Silence of the grave”, “Tainted blood”), Jens Lapidus (“Never fuck up”, “Easy money”) and Stefán Máni („The ship”). A perfect complement of this presentation will be the exhibition prepared in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden – “Landscapes of crime stories” – which presents 10 famous Swedish authors, among them the visitors will find Henning Mankell, Stieg Larsson, Mons Kellentoft and Mari Junstedt.

The festival will also include presentation of modern Scandinavian design, details soon!

Northern Living Festival is a project carried out by artistic agencies: 5am Independent Artists and Automatik in cooperation with Artistic Centre Fabryka Trzciny.
