On October 20, 2010 the draft legislation on change of the excise tax was forwarded to the Sejm for the first reading. The draft provides for increase of the tax rate by 4% from 2011 on tobacco products, i.e. cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos and tobacco for smoking. Increase of the excise tax may result in increase of budget earnings of approximate estimation of PLN 233 million and decrease in sale by approximately 2.5%.
