From the beginning of 2010, an employee who is a father raising a child may enjoy paternity leave of one week. A request for paternity leave should be made by the father in writing at least 7 days prior to the beginning of the leave. An employee who is a father has a right to paternity leave after an employee who is a mother has taken at least 14 weeks of maternity leave or after she took the entire maternity leave. Paternity leave should be taken by the father before the child is twelve months old.
