Together with the beginning of 2010 new provisions became binding which exempt Polish citizens from the fee payable for issuance of an identity card. The provisions have significant results with regard to the fees collected from the EU citizens and their family members for registration of their stay in Poland, issuance of a document confirming the right of permanent stay or the permanent resident card for a family member of a EU citizen. According to the European provisions the fee for issuance of such documents for foreigners from the EU and their family members may not be lower than the fee for issuance of identity documents for Polish citizens.
