On January 23, 2009 the Sejm accepted an amendment to the Act on Healthcare Benefits, which balances health contributions paid by entrepreneurs.

Subject to provisions binding now, the contribution paid by entrepreneurs changes every three months. After the planned amendments have come into force, the basis of the contribution will amount to 75% of the Average Monthly Remuneration in the Industry Sector Including Payments From Profits in the fourth quarter of the preceding year, and the contribution itself will be fixed throughout a given year.

The new rules will apply to contributions due for the period beginning March 1, 2009.
The draft amendment has now gone to the Senate.
