Subject to obligations resulting from EU directives and from the Accession Treaty, fifteen percent of energy in Poland will have to originate from renewable sources by 2020. In the 2009-2012 period, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSIGW) is to introduce a program, with the total budget of PLN 1.5 billion for renewable energy resources enterprises. Thus, entities interested in investing in renewable resources – including wind farms, solar collectors and biomass incineration plants - will be able to obtain preferential loans with a six percent annual interest. The NFOSIGW’s budget for this year amounts to PLN 750 million.
