On January 24, 2009 an act amending the provision of art. 385 of the Civil Code enters into force. To date, this provision imposed the obligation to express pecuniary obligations existing in Polish territory solely in Polish currency. After the amendment, it will be possible to express these obligations in any foreign currency, and the debtor will generally also be allowed to fulfill them in Polish currency.
