The Ministry of Economy is working on a draft of act on decreasing barriers on conducting business activity. One of the acts amended within the scope of this draft will be the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism.

Among other things, the ministry intends to liberalize the regulations on trading in alcohol through annulment of the provision which entitles municipality councils to establish the number of shops selling alcohol and which gives the municipality councilors the right to decide on regulations concerning the shops’ location. Pursuant to the proposed amendments, permission for sale of alcohol will be granted for undefined periods.
