On September 18, 2009 the Polish President signed an amendment to the Act on Polish Language. The amendment will come into force 14 days after its announcement.
Pursuant to the amendment, an employment contract or any other document drawn up under the labour law, any contract to which a consumer is a party as well as documents other than contracts which are drawn up with participation of consumers, all may be drawn up in a foreign language at the request of a person performing the work or a consumer if such persons know the language in question, are not Polish citizens and have been informed in advance that they have a right to have the contract or other document drawn up in the Polish language.
