On October 23, 2009 the Sejm adopted an amendment to the acts referring to confirmation of documents. The amendment is to lift formalities in civil, administrative and tax proceedings by granting professional proxies a right to confirm copies of documents submitted in the proceedings as being compliant with originals.
Until now, legal advisers and advocates have only been allowed to confirm such documents as the copy of a power of attorney or a proof of making stamp duty payment. After the Act comes into force, parties will not have to submit original documents or their notarial copies during the proceedings before a court or administrative authority. The Act is to come into force on January 1, 2010.
