Jerzy Martini is a tax advisor specializing in VAT issues. He represented a Polish taxpayer in the first case of its kind, setting a precedent before the European Court of Justice Case C-313/05 concerned compliance with EU law of Polish regulations relating to customs duties charged on passenger cars imported from other EU Member States. The ECJ ruling of 18 January stated unequivocally that this duty contravened EU law.
Jerzy Martini advises many leading firms in the telecommunications, advanced technology, FMCG, and media sectors in Poland. He has edited and co-authored the "Commentary on the VAT Act" published by Difin and "VAT in European Court of Justice Rulings" published by C.H.Beck, has co-authored "Tolley's VAT in Central and Eastern Europe" published by LexisNexis, and published several articles in Rzeczpospolita, Gazeta Prawna, Puls Biznesu, and specialist tax publications.
