Home Sweet Home Exhibition. Danish design for children

Poznań, 10-09-2018

Danish design is known throughout the world for excellent combination of form, function and good quality materials. But what makes it so special? And are children aware of Danish design traditions?

Malene Abildgaard and Julie Dufour Wiese from the Copenhagen based studio My Little Architect have created the exhibition HOME SWEET HOME that involves both architecture and design. The exhibition shows furniture and toys, as well as small objects that are present in most Danish homes and are beloved by the Danish children.

The selected objects are set up in the exhibition space in a unique way, where children (and adults) are able to touch them and discover unusual stories hidden behind the icons of Danish design, such as Kay Bojesen’s “Monkey” or the solar powered lamp designed by Olafur Eliasson.

The workshops for both children and professionals conducted by Danish architects and pedagogues, are important part of the project. The participants will learn how to effectively educate the youngest about design and architecture, while the children will be able to design their own houses. They will also learn what methods architects use and give a form to their vision of a home using all kinds of great materials.
