White Nights: Scandinavian culture week in Kraków

Main Library of Pedagogical University of Kraków has in many years organized cultural projects zooming on various countries, e.g. America, Italy or Spain. White Nights – a week of Scandinavian culture is focusing on literature, history, culture and scientific achievements of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland.

The event is addressed to children, youth and adults and includes a series of lectures on particular geographical and natural areas (e.g. Jutland or Copenhagen), Vikings, Scandinavian mythology and Old Norse language. The festival is also rich in language, art and handicraft workshops.

Also literature is an important part of the program. Literary section includes e.g. a lecture by Danish Cultural Institute’s director, BogusÅ‚awa SochaÅ„ska, on Hans Christian Andersen and his reception in Poland and abroad.

Join us also for a presentation in English by our interns Amanda Laasholdt and Adnan Tajić The Many Faces of Denmark and watch our exhibition Andersen’s fairy tales in Polish book illustration.
